I have always liked women that are strong, energetic, enterprising and have a lot of moxie so let me share a story about an interesting lady. She is a baby boomer that is just getting started in a new career. Her name is Geri Brin and her story is very inspiring!

You may not recognize her name but you probably remember the consequence of one of her websites that involves one of her ongoing projects. She gained notoriety with her website “Date My Single Kid”. She published the website with a “tongue-in-cheek” attitude and was catapulted into the public spotlight.
Soon after the website was launched the New York Post picked up the story and the frenzy began. She was featured on “The View” and “The Today Show” and there are reports that she is now having discussions about starring in a reality show on one of the networks.
The website was inspired by the experiences that she and some of her friends joked about in their efforts to get their sons and daughters married. As their humorous adventures unfolded Geri wondered how many other parents were experiencing the same thing. She decided to share some of the stories and launched her”tongue in cheek” website and the rest is history!
She has been involved in in the publishing business for many years and had to fight her way to success in a male dominated business world. Like most baby boomer women; she has overcome the prejudice and obstacles to become an accepted member in the business community.
Geri Brin was born in 1947. She was one of three girls; her father was the kind of man that expected the best from his kids. He encouraged them to pursue their education and to be the best they could be.
He wasn’t disappointed because all sisters became successful in their respective field. Her sister Shelly became a dietician and her sister Heidi became extremely successful in the banking industry. Geri chose the publication field.
She owes her success in her ability to network with other business women. The dynamic personalities of the baby boomer women that she associated with became a force field that she was able to draw from on her road to success. Also, her sisters helped mentor and gave advice whenever times became tough.
Her association with Fairchild Publication lasted twenty three (23) years. She worked her way up to the editor and publisher for the enterprise. During that period she wrote for some of the top publications such as “Harper Bazaar”, “Cosmopolitan” and “Parents Magazine” just to name a few.
Recognizing that there was a huge opportunity in the emerging market of dynamic energetic older women that were not willing to accept the past definition of older women she decided to create an enterprise that could provide a communication platform to share ideas and services.
She quit her job with Fairchild Publications at the age of 52 and began her journey to a higher level of success. Initially, she thought about starting another publication but decided she wanted to reach a larger audience and launched her website that is called “www.Faboverfifty.com”. One of the messages that she wants her readers to take away from her blog as reported from “allthingsgirl.com”
“That FOF (faboverifty) women should be proud of everything they’ve accomplished and continue to accomplish. We are the most dynamic, passionate, hard-working women in the history of women and now is the time for us to publicly share our recommendations, advice and wisdom, with each other and with the women behind us.”
She has said “I wanted to create a website where our dynamic generation of women could share our singular style, our exceptional experiences and our brilliant recommendations” The website is worth your time to check out; you will find a lot of valuable information.
The one thing you should learn from her story is that life is an adventure and it is never too late to begin reaching for the stars!
